Description
Lighthouse Christian Academy is seeking a dedicated School Resource Officer (SRO) to join our team. The SRO plays a vital role in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment for our students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a genuine commitment to serving the school community, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and responsibilities associated with working in a school setting.

Responsibilities:

-Foster a positive and supportive relationship with students, parents, and school personnel

-Provide law enforcement expertise and guidance to school administrators, teachers, and staff

-Develop and implement safety protocols, emergency response plans, and crisis management strategies
Investigate and document incidents, complaints, and potential criminal activities within the school premises

-Serve as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement agencies

-Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and positive decision-making among students
Requirements
Requirements:

-Commitment to upholding the Statement of Faith, values, and principles of Lighthouse Christian Academy

-SRO must be a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board (LETB) basic training program per Indiana Code (IC 5-2-1-9), have received (or is in the process of receiving) 40 hours of SRO training through the LETB, the National Association of School Resource Officers or another program approved by the LETB, be assigned to one or more school corporations, private or charter schools, and be currently employed/appointed by a law enforcement agency.

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

-Ability to establish rapport and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and school staff

-Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills

-Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to school safety and security

-Familiarity with educational environments and the unique challenges faced by schools
